Mommy's Little Cow Tipper!

Busy weekend! We had a lot of fun this weekend and I wanted to share some pictures with you. We went to the Kirkin' O' the Tartan on Sunday at First Presbyterian downtown. It's an annual event and we always try to go, it's a near experience to see all the clans and hear all the bagpipes. We're of Scottish heritage and we belong to two different clans - Wallace and Cameron, so we enjoy events like these. We got there late, so I just managed to get one quick picture from up on the gallery.

Last night, we made a trip to the Corn Maze. These things are SO much fun! I have no idea how they do it, but they plan corn in this huge maze shape. This year if was Pirates of the Cornabbean so the maze was in the shape of a huge pirate ship and they were playing pirate music. There are check-in stations, clues, and vantage points to help you make it through. The weather was absolutely wonderful - about 60 degrees, which is like a heat wave for this time of year. We got through it in about an hour or so, although we did take some short-cuts at the end because our feet were hurting and our flashlight was dying.

After the maze, they had a whole BUNCH of other stuff to do. For about $10 a head, this is about the best deal in town. They had tons of fun activities for the kids to do and some scary stuff for the older kids. My favorite was the ducky races - they had plastic raingutters set up full of rubber duckies with the old fashioned hand pumps on either end. Whoever pumped the fastest got all the duckies down to the other end - very clever and fun for the kids. We went through the "Creature" which scared the heck out of Blake. They had people inside waiting to scare you. They hadn't done that last year, so we weren't expecting it. He didn't cry, but he was scared silly!
After that, we went "Cow Tipping". They had a homemade pumpkin cannon and a small cannon that shoots ears of corn and they had these metal cow targets set up to shoot at. You can just barely see them in this picture. See all the hundreds of pumpkins scattered around them? Blake actually managed to hit the target with an ear of corn and tipped the cow over. See his face, he was SO happy! I'm so glad we went - I just love corny family fun like this!

How fun! We did a corn maze in Shakopee, MN a few weeks ago! What a fun thing to do!
